We are thrilled to announce the kick off of the 50th anniversary of the Washtenaw Area Council of Children! Over the past five decades, we have made significant strides in improving thousands of children's lives as a result of our educational programs. We invite you to join us over the next year as we reflect on the remarkable journey we’ve shared in our mission to promote child safety and well-being and to prevent child abuse throughout Washtenaw County.

As a mother of three children and a nurse at Michigan Medicine for the past 25 years, I decided to become a WACC board member three years ago. WACC is an organization that not only matters to me as a parent, but also as a nurse in the health system. I have seen firsthand the devastating impact of child abuse, and now as a board member I am able to contribute to WACC’s mission in making sure all children are strong, resilient, and safe.

This goes without saying, but none of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of compassionate WACC staff, children, educators, donors, board members and our community advocates. You have all believed in our vision and continue to empower us to make a difference in our community.

To honor this momentous occasion, we are launching the Safe Kids, Bright Futures campaign, inviting you to join us in a renewed commitment to our cause. We ask our cherished supporters to consider donating in denominations of $5, or any amount that resonates with you, to help us raise $50,000 and continue our vital work over the next 50 years.
